The History of our farm

Protokoll vom März 1727 – Verfachbuch des Gerichts Passeier, heute im Südtiroler Landesarchiv in Bozen
The Larchhof is the original parent farm of the Jogglanderhof. It is also colloquially known as the Stierschneiderhof and is just round the corner from us. It is one of the first eight farms in Stuls to be mentioned in a tax register for the Passeier Valley as early as 1288.
Around 1727, the Larchhof was divided into four parts; this gave rise to the Zipperhof, the Koflhof, what is now the Larchhof, and our farm, the Jogglanderhof.
In 1760, Jakob Hofer is recorded as the owner..
His son, Andreas Hofer, took over the farm in 1801.
It is highly likely that the farm’s current name also dates from this period; it is named after the first two owners, Jakob and Andreas, known in the local dialect as ‘Joggl’ and ‘Ander’.
In 1833, Johann Hofer became the owner of the farm.
In 1874, Franz Hofer took over.
In 1914, Alois Hofer appears as the next owner. He sold the farm in 1937 for 60,000 lire to Anton Hofer (1907–1981). Anton Hofer came from the Koflhof in Stuls and traded in cows and sheep.
In 1938, Anton Hofer and his wife Filomena Gögele restored the old barn and had the garden wall built.
In 1971, Anton’s son, Rudolf Hofer, took over the Jogglanderhof.
In 1975, he built the new barn.
In 1978/79, Rudolf and his wife Maria restored the house so that it could be used as a guesthouse. They created five double rooms and one single room. Breakfast is served in the parlour, which is also used for cosy evenings. The first guests were the Pehl family, Mrs Höfer and the Ebach family from Germany.
In 1980, guests began arriving in winter for the first time.
In 1999, Rudolf’s son, Anton Hofer, and his wife Annemarie took over the farm.
In 2005, Anton and Annemarie converted the rooms and began letting out the two holiday flats from 29 April 2005.
In 2020, the two holiday flats were refurbished.
In 2025, Anton’s son, the current owner Andreas Hofer, and his wife Verena took over the farm.
