Golden Autumn – a walking holiday in the Passeier Valley

Here at the Jogglanderhof, there’s still plenty to see at this time of year. Our cattle are returning from the alpine pastures down to the valley and, weather permitting, will spend a little more time grazing in the mountain meadows. Now in autumn, it’s also harvest time; the fruit from our trees around the house is finally ripe. Try a natural pear straight from the tree or enjoy one of our homemade jams made from peaches, plums or apricots grown on the farm.

Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons for a holiday in the Passeier Valley. In Hinterpasseier in particular, the golden larch forests transform the landscape into a breathtaking natural spectacle, whilst in Vorderpasseier the colourful deciduous trees create an autumnal atmosphere. The alpine pastures become quieter, the views of the surrounding peaks clearer, and many hiking trails and mountain tours can still be enjoyed well into autumn.

Törggelen in autumn is one of South Tyrol’s best-known culinary traditions. After a walk through the autumn-coloured vineyards, visitors stop off at cosy wine taverns and cellars to enjoy young wine and regional specialities. Around Merano and in the upper Passeier Valley, nestled amongst golden chestnut groves, numerous traditional establishments invite you to enjoy this special experience.

Psairer Autumn – Autumnal experiences in the Passeier Valley

From October to early November, the Tourist Board offers a varied programme centred on tradition, cuisine and local customs as part of the ‘Psairer Herbst’ series of events. Look forward to cookery classes, tastings of regional specialities and guided herb walks between Riffian, St. Leonhard and Stuls. An ideal opportunity to experience the diversity and hospitality of South Tyrol with all your senses.
